Nagoya Station

The station is crisscrosses by numerous tracks, connecting Nagoya to the other parts of the country. The station is linked to the major cities through seven different lines like JR Central Japan, Tokaido Shinkansen Line, Tokaido Line, Ch?? Line, Kansai Line, Takayama Line, Higashiyama Line, and Sakura-dori Line. The station also has a number of local trains that function as a popular mode of transport for traveling around the city.
The Nagoya Station, or Meieki, as it is locally called, serves as the headquarters of the Central Japan Railway Company. The station is a huge construction, sprawling for 410,000 square meters. In fact, it is the world's largest station in terms of floor area. Most of the station area is however, occupied by the JR Central Towers, which towers up to an immense height. Right atop the station is the Takashimaya department store, which covers several floors to serve the commuters with every requirement. The Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel housed in the tower is a convenient accommodation for the tourists pouring into the station. A number of restaurants and shopping zones located in the tower remain packed with travelers as they wait for their train, or step out of it.
The Nagoya Station houses a bus terminal that operates both local and JR and Meitetsu Highway buses which move to the major cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Takayama.
