Osaka since a long time has been identified as the international gateway for promoting
the cultural side of the country as well as the platform for exchanging cultural
ideas with other countries. Japan and its various regions have been notable for
its rich history and diverse performing arts for centuries. While the traditional
arts have been retained and still performed in the various theatres with the advance
of time new tastes have emerged and has given birth to a new culture in Osaka-
the club culture.
Osaka, known as the club capital in the region, is being gripped by this party
and club culture slowly and is coming at par with the capital city Tokyo. The
numerous night clubs, music clubs are the happening places for the young crowd
in Osaka. However some are meant strictly for the business crowd and adults.
They range generally from being very large ones to smaller ones.
Osaka boasts of nearly 20 main clubs and more than a dozen music and dance
clubs in the region. The music and dance clubs are situated in the Shinsaibashi
and Umeda areas of Osaka and are generally smaller clubs to hang out in a friendly
atmosphere.
The music clubs are seats of popular music like rock, techno and western numbers.
A fun loving crowd, a heavenly ambience and enthusiastic DJ's churning out the
hot numbers make the music clubs a popular zone to unwind. The groovy music
provides for the right impetus for you to put the dance floor on fire and party
harder.
The city of Osaka is famous for theatrical plays too. A great chunk of the
actors and actresses in the entertainment industry are from Osaka itself. After
proving themselves on the local front and sharpening their acting skills by
presenting shows on the prestigious theaters in Osaka they have become renowned
names in the world of entertainment. Sobota komachi and the Lilliput Army are
some of the celebrated theater groups. The traditional form of Japanese theater
Kabuki still holds its prominence among the Osaka people and is staged with
great enthusiasm. The theater halls in Osaka as such have been redesigned on
a greater scale to accommodate larger crowd and is lined with high tech systems.
