Osaka International Boat ShowThe Organizing Authority for the Melbourne-Osaka Yacht Race comprises the City of Osaka Promotional Council, Osaka Hokko Yacht Club, Japan Sailing Federation - Offshore Naikai, City of Melbourne and Sandringham Yacht Club in association with Yachting Australia. It is staged every four years and is one of the major events for boating in Osaka.
Melbourne-Osaka Yacht Race was first held in 1987 to commemorate the 120 th anniversary of the opening of the Port of Osaka. It celebrates the sister city relationship between Melbourne and Osaka. Melbourne-Osaka Yacht Race takes part in the Melbourne Osaka Boat Week . The event organizes a “Come Try Sailing” weekend, school excursions, fashion shows, an Osaka cultural festival, the Club Marine Sail Boat Show, a celebration concert and fireworks.
Event organizers ‘Leisurecorp' are currently holding talks with possible further race entrants from France, New Zealand, the USA and Australia.
Melbourne Osaka Boat Week 2007 at Melbourne Docklands in Victoria, with the major highlight on the Melbourne Osaka Cup 2007, was also a great event.
Features of Osaka International Boat ShowThe Osaka International Boat Show features:
- Come Try Sailing - All show visitors will have the opportunity to try sailing.
- Fashion Parades and Safety Demonstrations - A number of safety demonstrations and also fashion parades are featured here.
- Entertainment for the Whole Family - Live entertainment and kids' amusements include face painting. The show also features model yachts on water.
- Boat Building Competition - Students from local schools build boats from scratch equipped with wood and cloth. Once the boats are built, they race against each other to see which boat stays afloat the longest.
- Food and Beverage – A wide range of fully licensed restaurants, a food court, bakery and supermarket are available at the event venue.
The Club Marine Sail Boat Show was previously held at Sandringham Yacht Club (SYC) but is being relocated to Waterfront City. The show features over 100 exhibitor displays including in-water, boat show alley, hardstand and Off the Beach boats and is a premier event for boating in Osaka.
The 2007 Club Marine Sail Boat Show features a large range of boats and sailing accessories with live entertainment and activities to suit everyone. The show is an annual event that is usually held at Sandringham Yacht Club (SYC).
The Melbourne Club Marine Sail Boat Show , a part of the Melbourne - Osaka Boat Week, also includes school excursions, fashion shows, boat rallies, a concert and fireworks. The Melbourne Osaka Yacht Race runs every four years, pitting man and boat against the power of the ocean.
