The term natural history incorporates the study of living beings including- ecology, geology, astronomy, bio-chemistry, meteorology and so on. Osaka treasures the Japanese history and culture. The information of the “Age of Mammals” constitutes of “Tertiay flora”, “features of Miocene Inland Sea”, “Nijo-san”, “evolution of Desmostylus and Eostegodon”, volcanic chains in Japan and Nummulithic period. The age of dinosaurs and ammonites including the characteristics of Mesozoic sea, Mesozoic land plants and sea plants is well preserved in the Osaka Museum of Natural History. This natural museum also conserves the history of the inhabitants of Palaeozoic forests, especially the amphibians; mammals like reptiles, oldest fossil from Japan, Precambrian fossils, trilobites and so on. The third exhibition room displays the maritime habitats like three kinds of catfish, migration of butterflies and eggflies.
