Osaka International Church

Japan - Fukuoka - Kobe - Nagoya - Tokyo - Osaka - Hiroshima - Kyoto - Yokohama

In a world that is severed by the factions of regionalism and communal disharmony, one needs to seek the solace of spirituality and mental calm. The tranquility of the mind is obtained through the quest for the universal truth which sows the seed of fraternity. It is for this sole purpose that religious establishments like the church had been instituted, for brotherhood is not merely a word from the Bible. The key to a happy life for all is achievable only through the spirit of comradeship, so the Bible says. The Osaka International Church had been constructed in 1974 so as to further the purpose of integrating foreigners and strangers alike, so that they may become “members of the household of God” (Ephesians 2:19).

IN the year 1974, an evangelical international association was initiated by Rev. Peter Okayama in the heart of Osaka. Gradually, as other Japanese brethren began cooperating with Pastor Okayama, the vision resulted in the foundation of the Osaka International Church. In October that year, at the request of the Rev, the services began to be led by Rev. Marshall who continued the work for 18 years until he returned to the States in 1992. Currently, the interim pastor is Daniel Ellrick who, along with his wife, Karen are missionaries for the mission to the Unreached Peoples and even served in Hiroshima from 1996 to 2002.

The church serves foreign and Japanese residents and visitors alike in the greater Osaka area. It is situated in a convenient commuting distance for those who drop in to visit from Kyoto, Kobe, Nara and Wakayama. The Osaka International Church is an interdenominational Protestant Christian fellowship that caters to the larger metropolis. Its congregation includes Christians from countries of all over the world, apart from those in the country itself. The Sunday morning service or the mass is conducted in English language which is aided by translations through wireless means, and a Saturday evening service in English and Japanese alike. Since most of the devotees hail from variant cultural and composite backgrounds, the OIC works towards providing a universal platform for worship, prayer, sermon and fellowship for all and sundry.

The cathedral is held together by a concrete belief system that spans from the faith in the Old and New Testaments to the Word of Our Lord, the Savior, who died so that we may live. The Holy Spirit is ministered to glorify the Lord Jesus to emancipate mankind of sin, regenerate them, and empower the believer for divine living and service. The common ground for veneration is the “Solid Rock” Jesus Christ who provides the devotees with stability so that they may build their lives upon Him. Prayer empowers the soul and teaches us to deal with life's tribulations in a healthy manner. Welcome to AsiaRooms.com for all the information regarding the Osaka International Church.
