Akasaka Palace
The Akasaka Palace situated in the Moto Akasaka area of Tokyo, Japan, is a huge monumental structure known for its beautiful architecture and hence a popular tourist attraction of the metropolis.

The Akasaka Palace was an isolated palace, which was designed by architect Katayama Tokuma. The huge building or rather palace is a fine example of neo-baroque architecture. The palace was built as the official residence of the Crown Prince of Japan. The Akasaka palace occupies a total area of 117000 square meters. The main building itself has a floor space of 15000 square meters.

There is a long path from the gate that leads one to the palace buildings. The path is lined with a large number of well-trimmed trees. There are huge lawns and gardens flanking the two sides of the path. The lawns and gardens are filled with a large number of colorful flowers.

One of the biggest attractions of the palace is the Sentry Box. The sentry Box is located close to the main gate of the palace. Today, only one of the two still stands in the palace grounds. The building is designed in the form of a dome and basically serves as rooms form the security guards, guarding the palace. The Akasaka Palace was built in 1899, during the Meiji Period. The construction of the huge palace was completed in the year 1909. The palace has a huge lawn or ground right in the front. The palace is surrounded by a long rough iron fence in the north. The fence has huge iron gates right in the middle. The sentry box is situated right beside these huge elegant gates.

The Akasaka palace is today one of the main public buildings of Tokyo. It is in fact referred to as the Akasaka Palace State Guest House. The building plays host to the numerous state dignitaries of Japan. The palace premises are used by the Government of Japan as a venue for holding a large number of meetings with foreign dignitaries. Since 1974, the palace has been used as the State Guest House of Japan.

A replica of the castle was built in Kyoto in April 17th, 2005. This structure was built according to the Japanese style of architecture. This building has a floor space of 16000 square meters in the ground floor and the basement. The entire monument occupies a total space of 20000 square meters and is located in the Kyoto Gyoen are in the city of Kyoto.

You can come to this place by taking a train to the Akasaka-Mitsuke Station. You can avail the Metro Ginza and Marunouchi subway lines to this station. From here you can take a taxi or a bus ride to this palace.
