The Rainbow Bridge is one of the most famous bridges of Tokyo, Japan. It connects the mainland of the city of Tokyo with Odaiba district in Tokyo Bay. The bridge is one of the main architectural marvels of the metropolitan city.

The Rainbow Bridge in Tokyo was built during the 62nd year of the Showa Area. The construction of the building was completed in the 5th year of the Hese Era. The construction of the bridge was completed in the year 1993.

The huge structure is a suspension bridge, which crosses over the northern part of Tokyo Bay, between the Shibaura Wharf and the Odaiba waterfront. The bridge is 570 meters wide with three major transportation lines, which includes Metropolitan Expressway no. 11, Odaiba Route and Route 357or Rinkou Douro and Yurikamome New Transit. The former two transit lines are located in the upper deck of the bridge while the latter one is located on the lower deck. The entire bridge has eight lanes for vehicular traffic, two railway lines and one walkway for the pedestrian. The Rainbow Bridge is 918 meters long and has two with a distance of 570 meters between them.

The bridge has two massive towers. The towers that support the bridge are white in color in order to match the skyline of central Tokyo. The wires that support the bridge are decorated with numerous lamps. The lamps operate with the help of solar energy that they acquire during the daytime. The lamps that adorn the bridge are illuminated into three different colors, which include red, green and white. It is because of these multi colored lights that the bridge is called the Rainbow Bridge.

From the bridge, you can get a god view of Tokyo Harbor. This harbor, which stretches from the mouth of Sumida River to Tama River, was constructed in the year 1941. The harbor has undergone extensive developments over the years. One can also get a good view of the harbor from the northern walk away of the bridge. You can also get an excellent view of the Tokyo Tower form the bridge. This 333 meter high tower is one of the tallest structures in Tokyo. It is a general radio wave tower.

One can also get a good view of Tokyo Bay and Mount Fuji from the southern walkway of the bridge.

Accessing the bridge is easy. One can walk from the southwestern part of the Tamachi Station on the Yamanote Line and come arrive at the Shibaura anchorage of the bridge. From here you can take an elevator to the walkway meant for the pedestrians. The bridge is open for 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. One is not allowed take bicycles and motorcycles on the decks and walkways of the bridge.

The Rainbow Bridge in Tokyo is indeed one of the most astounding attractions of the city. One should surely not miss the nighttime view of the bridge.
