About The Ginza Lion, Tokyo
There are plenty of beer bars in Tokyo, but Ginza Lion flaunts an enviable heritage. Approximately established way back in the early part of the 1900s, this is the oldest of the beer bars in Tokyo. It stands tall after having survived the tumultuous war days whence Japan was almost destroyed.
Ginza Lion has changed very little since its early years. Styled after a German pub, this place is all done up in gorgeous tiles and mosaic motifs adorn the interiors. The Gothic ceiling will hardly give you the impression that you are inside a beer bar. But look around. The hordes of beer mugs going around, overflowing to the brim, will bring you back to reality.
The ambience herein is always jolly and you will find large groups having their fill of the frosty Japanese beer. In fact, Ginza Lion is one of the most favored pubs in Tokyo for hanging out with a large crowd and letting your hair down.
The fare here is Sapporo, a traditional form of Japanese beer and loads of it, and roast beef, chicken cutlets topped with cheese, yakitori, spaghetti, sausage and such other simple but very tasty German and Japanese food items.
Apart from all the food and drink options you have here, the entertainment scene here also includes the occasional beer promotions wherein the spirits are high and the beer flows like water.
Amongst all the various beer bars Japan has, Ginza Lion, Tokyo is probably the one with the most affordable rates. This comes as quite a surprise when you consider that it is located in one of the most posh localities of Tokyo. Beer prices start here from around 590 yens.
The Ginza Lion is one of the most popular of all the Tokyo beer bars. The clientele here is mostly the middle-aged and the aged. The place is open from 11:30am to 11pm on Mondays through to the Saturdays and from 11:30am to 10:30pm on Sundays and holidays.
Aside from the Ginza Lion, you also have other Tokyo beer bars like the Belgo, Clubhouse and Billy Barew’s Beer Bar. Also make it a point to check out the other bars in Tokyo like Warrior Celt, Propaganda and Piga Piga. There’s no better alternative to get a hang of the beer culture that prevails in Tokyo.
