Just minutes away from Shinjuku Station at the end of a moving walkway, Takashimaya Times Square is a massive shopping-entertainment-dining complex. Much brighter and more modern than the Nihonbashi branch, it feels more like a huge, classy shopping mall. Pride of place goes to Takashimaya, one of Tokyo's largest department stores. The complex also houses a popular lifestyle and DIY store, and an annex is occupied by a bookstore. The top three floors are devoted to various leisure activities including. Tokyo IMAX Theater has a gigantic screen on which you can enjoy 3-D and realistic images. It has also a large hall called Le Grand Sosie where you can really experience the most advanced technology of the world's beauty and esthetics. There is a CD shop called HMV where shopping in possible while 11 o'clock at night.

There are three restaurant floors, a Sega amusement center and the famous Tokyu Hands hardware store. With an annex building housing the Japanese gift products you could ever need, it is not surprising that Takashimaya has become a favorite with foreigners and locals alike.
This department store provides stiff competition for Mitsukoshi, with a history just as long. It was founded as a kimono shop in Kyoto during the Edo Period and opened in Tokyo in 1933. Today it's one of the city's most attractive department stores, with white-gloved elevator operators whisking customers to eight floors of shopping and dining. Naturally, it features boutiques by such famous designers as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Issey Miyake, and more.
This branch of Takashimaya is the largest department store in Japan.
Founded in 1829 in Kyoto by Iida Shinshichi as a retailer of used clothing and cotton cloth, the store now has outlets throughout Japan and also in New York, Taipei, Paris and Singapore.

Takashimaya was listed at 1197th position on the Forbes Global 2000 list for
2006. Takashimaya carries a wide array of products, ranging from wedding dresses and other apparel to electronics and flatware.
