Minato Matsuri is one of the biggest promotional event of Tokyo Port that takes place in Harumi and Hinode area celebrated around 20 May (The exact date may vary by a few days, depending on the year), to commemorate the anniversary of the opening of Port of Tokyo to the world as an international trading port on May 20th, 1941. For the best view of the spectacular gala marked by a colorful parade of sailboats, a number of onlookers gather at Harumi Pier. This one of a kind marine extravaganza is marked by several events that are held at three different sites using Harumi Terminal, the marine entrance of Tokyo, as the main stage. The various sites where these festival events are showcased are: - Harumi main site - Waterfront Subcenter site - Wakasu site Enjoy Tokyo bay cruise, participate in the stamp rally, take a tour of Nihon Maru, one of the world's biggest sailing ships of Japan, and learn from their demonstration of spreading the sail. The crew warmly greets visitors and takes them inside the ship. Another fun filled event at the Minato Matsuri festival is the walking competition from Hinode to Harumi. Getting to Harumi main site - Access by Bus: Visitors can get to Harumi main site from Terminal bus stop on - To (Metropolitan) Bus #05 - bound for Harumi Terminal from Tokyo Station (the Marunouchi South exit)/ Yurakucho Sta./ Ginza-yonchome Sta./ Kachidoki Sta. *(Relief bus service is scheduled) - Access by Water Bus: Water lovers can get to Harumi main site enjoying a lovely 10-minute ride from Hinode Pier to Harumi stop. Getting to Hinode Pier is equally easy as it is just 15-minute walk from Hamamatsucho Station.
