In Japan it's Takao Momiji Matsuri, the Maple Leaf Festival. Japan is blessed with four seasons a year and every seasonal change is accompanied with a festival. As a matter of fact the festivals accompanying the seasonal changes are the hallmark of the Japanese culture. To celebrate the Autumn one should not think about a different place in Japan other than the slopes of Mount Takao. The ideal place to soak into the warmth of the season in Japan. The annual festival is celebrated on a month long basis which commences on 1st of November and continues till the 30th of the month. The venue i.e. Mount Takao is flocked in by the visitors during this period. This month long celebrations at the mountain is accompanied with greetings and gifts for the tourists who ascend the mountain. The best way to reach the top is to avail the cable car or can enjoy the fun of chairlift. All the way through dance and the music along with the performances by the Street Entertainers remains the companion for the tourists. The local specialty of "monkey miming", in the town plaza is among the favorite items of entertainment. The site is open for the general public between 11 am to 4 pm everyday. This period is beautifully designed with the festive music of Taiko drums. The drum beatings keep up the jovial mood that keeps the traveler on the toes. The sound of the Koto Japanese harps and Shakuhachi bamboo flutes creates a tranquil atmosphere which blends with the atmosphere beautifully to create the magic amidst the frenzied foliages.
