The Hara museum is one the most famous contemporary art museum of Tokyo. It is perfect place to see the ultra modern art of today's world. The Hara Museum was established in the year 1979. The building of the Hara Museum is a remarkable example of Bauhaus architecture. The original building of the Hara Museum was designed by Jin Watanabe

The museum has wonderful collections of paintings from the year 1950 onwards .It generally conducts traveling and permanent exhibitions of the modern works by the famous foreign and Japanese artist.

The Hara Museum has a huge collection of the artists from the countries like Japan, US, Europe, Central America and also Asia. The name names of some of the artists are like Agam, Albers, Borofsky, Calder and Christo.

The Museum organizes events all over the year. One of the most famous events was the Thai design at Hara Museum. This event was organized as a part of ASEAN-Japan exchange for the year 2003.This event organized seminars on Thai Culture. The other upcoming event of Hara Museum is the "Neighbors".

Ticket price:

The museum charges 1000 yen for the adults and 700 yen for the students. However the school going students can enter the museum for the fees of 500 yen only. The entrance is free for the museum staff members

Getting there:

From JR Shinagawa station it takes 5 minutes by taxi to reach the Hara Museum. It is about 15 minutes walking distance from JR Shinagawa Station from the JR Shinagawa station you can also take the bus for Gotanda Station. It is better to get down at Gotenyama and walk for three minutes to visit the Hara Museum

Timings:

The Hara Museum is open from 11:00 till 17:00 on days except Wednesday. On Wednesday it opens till 20:00 The museum generally remains closed on Mondays. If a national holiday falls on Monday, then the museum is kept open on that day.
