The Ueno Royal Museum
The Ueno Royal Museum, previously known as the Japan Art Association Museum, is a place where one can get to fine examples of Japanese art and paintings. The museum is locate din the Ueno district of Tokyo and serves as a venue for a large number of national as well as international art exhibitions.

The Ueno Royal Museum was opened in the year 1972 in the moth of April. The museum is maintained by the Japan Art Association, an organization, which was founded in the year 1879. Currently headed by Prince Hitachinomiya, this foundation is the first of its kind in Japan. Also referred to as the Ueno Forest Fine Arts museum, this museum is aimed at promoting art and culture in the country. Ever since its inauguration in 1972, the museum has held a large number of exhibitions where it showcased the works of art of numerous past and present painters of the country.

The museum is spacious and has a number of exhibition halls where both large and small exhibitions are held. The rooms are illuminated with brilliant top lights and one can find a large number of glass cases where the artifacts can be displayed. The museum underwent extensive renovations in the year 1992. In the month of August in the year 2006, a new gallery was also opened in this museum.

The Ueno Royal Museum has an art school inside its premises. Known as the 'Ueno Forest Art School', this art school allows young and budding artists to develop their skills. A large number of lecture session by prominent painters are held over here for the benefit of the students. The school teaches its students the technique of painting, color concept and other matters related to fine arts.

Another attraction of this art museum is a place called 'Meeting of Friend'. This place was inaugurated in the year 1989. This place serves as a venue for interchange of ideas and opinions and research work. It also doubles up as a place where one can make friends. The main activities that are held over include field sketch meetings, art lectures and others. A large number of fairs are also held over here. During these fairs numerous paintings are also displayed over here. The biggest event held in this museum is the 'Ueno Royal museum Competition'.

The museum is open form 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The museum is open on all days. The museum has a café inside its premises called Café MORI. Visitors can try out the snacks and drinks served in this café, when visiting this museum. The café however remains closed during exhibitions.

Getting to this museum is simple. You can take a train to the JR Ueno Station and then walk from there. You can also come to the Keisei Ueno Station and then walk for five minutes before you reach this place. You can also take the Ginza line or the Hibiya Line subway and arrive at Ueno station and then walk to this place.

The Ueno Royal Museum in Tokyo is nowadays used for temporary exhibitions and seminars conducted by numerous organizations. You can pay a visit to this museum to check out the displays or learn about painting by taking part in the numerous lectures and workshops.
