Chiyoda

Chiyoda is situated in the center of Tokyo and continues to grow as an international city. It got its name from Edo Castle, which literally means "field of a thousand generations". Chiyoda also has some of the important buildings like the Diet, Prime Minister's residence and Supreme Court. There are fifteen embassies within this ward.

There are a number of important sightseeing places here.
1 Hibiya Park is the first Western Style Park in Japan. It houses an open-air concert hall, the Hibiya Public Hall, tennis courts and restaurants. Be it a weekday or weekend this park always is crowded with visitors. The flowers are the prettiest things here to see.
2 National Diet Building was completed in 1936 and is the venue where both houses of the diet of Japan meet.
3 Nippon Budokan is often shortened as Budokan. For many Westerns this place is similar with large sale rock concerts. It was here that the famous band Beatles made their debut in Japan.

There are other important places of attraction like Imperial Palace, Tokyo International Forum, Tokyo Station, Tokyo Takarazuka Theatre, and others. The Imperial Palace is the official residence of the Japanese imperial family. The inner palace gardens and buildings are closed to the general public except on January 2 and December 23rd when the imperial family makes a public appearance. However the Imperial Palace East gardens are open to general public all through the week except on Mondays and Fridays.

Linked to the East Gardens on the North side is Kitanomaru Park. This park also houses the Nihon Budokan, which regularly holds marital arts competitions and live concerts. The Chidoriga-fuchi Moat is located on the Northwest side of the Imperial Gardens ground. Don't forget to visit the Yasukuni Shrine, which is a controversial shrine and houses the soul of 2.5 million people killed in Japan. Besides these there are a number of museums and parks here.
