Tokyo is seas apart from Italy, but the city hosts a number of places for the ones who seek to savor cuisines from the distant Mediterranean country. Attore is one such Italian restaurant; in fact, one of the most visited ones in Tokyo. Located in the stately Hotel Seiyo Ginza, it is a haven for authentic Italian cuisine.

Attore serves a wide spread of traditional Italian food, paying special attention to north Italian recipes. The food is cooked to its best by Chef Katsuyuki Muroi, who gives Tokyo a wonderful concoction of authentic Italian spices. The restaurant is famous for its wide variety of pasta. The regular eaters here adore the pâté of pheasant and porcini mushrooms, or walnut-smoked lamb chops. The buckwheat flour gnocchi is also a popular item in the list of favorites. With a huge collection of wines, Attore has a cellar to tempt any connoisseur.

The restaurant is a posh setup with a décor that reflects the classic Italian elegance. The three different dining areas, Ristorante, Trattoria and The Wine Bar cater to every taste and mood. For the ones who enjoy an informal meal, the restaurant has a separate section with a bar counter and a banquet. Seating 60, it is a cozy cubicle of transparent glass walls, colorful table cloths, track lights and potted plants stationed here and there. There is a separate area for formal dining. With 40 seats, this dining area is stylishly furnished. Mauve wall panels, lush carpets and a soft lighting add to its charm. This section of the restaurant is however the more expensive one, specializing in Italian versions of meat and seafood. The 'weekend plan' of Attore is particularly popular as on the weekends it serves a special spread of pasta, a main course, coffee and wine. Attore caters the true essence of Italy, and has even been credited by the Italian government.
