The island country of Japan is the land of many volcanoes which are ideal for giving rise to a large number of hot springs or onsens in the various regions of Japan. These onsens are found in abundance in the countryside and some of them are artificially built as an added feature at many ryokan or local inns. These hot springs make for an ideal getaway for natives and tourists visiting Japan from the hustle and bustle of city life. Hakone is such a place in Japan renowned not only for its large number of hot springs in the mountains but also a well known Hot Springs Resort area. A major tourist attraction in the country famous for the Fuji Hakone Izu National Park around Lake Ashi or Lake Ashino-Ko as it is often called, and a splendid view of the Mount Fuji, Hakone attracts a major chunk of tourist inflow in the country. In recent times Hakone provides hot spring water to the many local bath houses or ryokans in the Hakone area. The most famous hot Springs of Hakone is located at Yumoto, at the entrance to Hakone area near Odawara. The place records a long history coupled with very high quality water and excellent baths and onsen inns. Fees are applicable for daytime visitors. Hot springs in Hakone area are also available at Miyanoshita and Kowakidani. Other Hot Spring Resorts in Hakone: Onsens at Yumoto are available at Tenzan, Yu No Sato Okada, Hakone No Yu and Kappa Tengoku. Miyanoshita has hot springs at Rakuyujurin Shizenkan. The hot spring is located on a steep slope of the valley and is surrounded by greenery. Kowakidani has a famous hot spring at Yunessun which is a hot spring spa resort. The Japanese style hot spring area is called Mori No Yu. You are needed to keep your clothes in the lockers provided and wash yourself before entering the hot spring. How to Reach Hakone is easily accessible from Odawara and Mishima. Both are the rail heads on the Odakyu Odawara line. It takes 70 minutes from Shinjuku, Tokyo. The Hakone Tozan links various onsen resort towns in Hakone. The Romancecar Limited Express runs between Shinjuku and Hakone-Yumoto.
