Mainly the meal comprises of combination of flavors, textures, and the food that creates the Japanese style. Noodles are eaten in Japan and also form a typical lunch, Udon are wheat noodles served in soups and the buckwheat noodles are served as salads. Vegetables are served with vinegar, pickled, and deep-fried. Root vegetables are common. The food in Japan does not have many variants this is because there are no geographical differences in Japan.
Sushi is very popular in Japan and each area serves different style of Sushi. In Tokyo, Nigiri is the most popular style. The other varieties of Japanese food includes Donburi, Izakaya, Kaiseki, Kushikatsu, Nabe, Okonomiyaki, Ramen, Tempura, Unagi, Yakinikku, Yakitori, etc. Most Japanese like to eat rice and one will find it most common on tables on the other hand bread and noodles are also important. Japanese also love to eat food from different countries.
As regards the drinks and beverages of Japan Green Tea has a great significance for the Japanese culture. Often during ones visit to another house would end up with a green tea meet also. Green Tea also serves as the centerpiece of the tea ceremony one of the Japan unique traditions. One also can find several varieties of beer that are brewed in Japan and have become popular worldwide.
Most of the Japanese restaurants specialize in type of food and many allow patrons to cook at their tables. The traditional type restaurants have low tables and one has to sit on cushions on the floor. Some restaurants also have the modern type along with the traditional ones. The traditional setting would require you to take of your shoes before entering the sitting area.

to say 'itadaki- masu' and 'gochisou-sama' after a meal.
