Yokohama Ferry Service

Coinciding with the inauguration of the World Cup Soccer in 2002 in South Korea and Japan, the Osanbashi International Passenger Terminal of Yokohama was formally opened in June 2002 to announce ferry service in Yokohama. The terminal resembles a landscape-like curving roof, and intends to be an extension to the adjacent municipal park. As Japan's second largest city, Yokohama has been a traditional port town and an entrance for foreigners to the island country. It has transited to being a harbor city with dockyards and heavy industries being moved out of the city center.

Visitors can take in a whiff of fresh air near the Yokohama jetty, by boarding pleasure boats and enjoying relaxing sea excursions. Enjoy the bay in a pleasure boat by taking a look at the Yokohama cityscape. Passengers can freely select courses including the tour around the Yokohama Port and of the Keihin industrial belt along the Keihin canal.

The Yokohama Ferry Service developed the stretch of the waterfront to the north of the city to create a new entertainment and business district. The Ferry Terminal of Yokohama considers providing usable public space for residents. This sets it apart from other modern constructions and makes it an urban landmark for the city and its people.
