Owing to the proximity of Yokohama to the national capital of Tokyo, the former employs the services that are extended by the twin airports of Tokyo - the Narita International Airport and the Haneda Airport, which mostly handles domestic air traffic. Haneda is located about 30 minutes south of central Tokyo. The terminals are used by Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways and their subsidiaries. Narita is located to the east of Greater Tokyo. Yokohama International Airport, which chiefly refers to Narita, handles a majority of international passenger traffic to and from Japan. This is the connecting point for air traffic between Asia and America. It has two terminals with separate underground railway stations. They are connected by shuttle buses (that are available inside and outside the security area) and trains. There is, however, no pedestrian connection. Terminal 1 uses a satellite terminal design. The landside is categorized into the North Wing, Central Building and a South Wing. Terminal 2 is divided into a main building and satellite, both of which are designed around linear concourses. The check-in and departures are on the third floor. The second floor contains immigration control facilities for arriving passengers. Baggage claim and custom comprise the first floor.
