Big Wharf (Osanbashi Pier) Yokohama
Japan - Fukuoka - Kobe - Nagoya - Tokyo - Osaka - Hiroshima - Kyoto - Yokohama -
Built in the year 1894, this pier is quite an old construction in the city and so holds a long cultural legacy. After its completion the Big Wharf (Osanbashi Pier) in Yokohama was christened as the "Yokohama Harbor pier". The Big Wharf (Osanbashi Pier) in Yokohama stood for a long while, unrivalled, as the biggest pier of Japan. As a result of this, the Big Wharf (Osanbashi Pier) in Yokohama was also the biggest trading port. With trade the wharf became a gateway for foreign transaction and led to the influx of foreigners into the city of Yokohama. Tough, with time and the mushrooming of several modern state-of-the-art ports have sprung up, neither of them can match up to the glory that the Big Wharf (Osanbashi Pier) in Yokohama once held. Yet the port still sees a lot of shipping traffic, though tourism too has become a major revenue earner for the port. The Big Wharf (Osanbashi Pier) in Yokohama is open everyday between 6:00am and 10:00pm.
