Jeju National Museum is a museum, which depicts the long history of the Korean island of Jeju. The island has been an important link for trade with the other Asian countries like China, India, Japan, Taiwan, Okinawa and many others. Jeju’s rich history and cultural heritage is the subject matter of exhibition in the Jeju National Museum.

The other subject that has been given equal importance in the exhibition of the Jeju National Museum is the archeological findings over the years, some of them even dating back to the pre-historic period. The artifacts and relics have been excavated from various sites of utmost historic importance. The Jeju National Museum serves not only as a center of displaying the historic arts and artifacts but also a center where the history and culture of the Jeju has been organized.

The Jeju National Museum was opened in the year 2001, on the 15th of July. The different parts of the museum depict the characteristics of the island for instance the windy weather of the island has been signified by the shapes of the railing and windows. The facilities that are available in the museum are auditorium, seminar room, library, a hands-on experience counter and a museum shop from where you can buy souvenirs, posters and models of the displayed artifacts.

The Jeju National Museum remains open on all the days except Monday. From Tuesday to Friday the museum opens at 9 in the morning and closes at 6 in the evening. On Saturdays the museum opens at 9 and closes at 12 midnight. On the Sundays and holidays the museum opens at 9 in the morning and closes at 7 in the evening. On the first of January the Jeju National Museum remains closed.

Adults from the age of 19 to 64 are required to pay 1,000 won and if they are in a group then they can pay 700 won. Youths from 7 to 18 years of age have to pay 500 won, if single and 300 won if in a group. Children under the age of 6 and senior citizens over the age of 65 can enter the Jeju National Museum for free.
