Holy Family Cathedral in Kuwait ,one of the most popular tourist attractions of Kuwait stands tall and majestically in a prominent location in Kuwait City just a short walk away from the shores of Arabian Gulf. Though in today's date Holy Family Cathedral in Kuwait is the seat of the Catholic Bishop in Kuwait, it is actually a living testimony of the many mighty and marvelous deeds of God for His people. For over forty years now, this holy site has been a place of worship and stands as a revered symbol of Catholicism in the State. This very modern and exotic Holy Family Cathedral in Kuwait known for its unique architecture and it began taking shape in 1956 on the land graciously apportioned by revered H.H. the Amir, and the Government of Kuwait. On the 27th of January, 1957 the first stone was laid for Holy Family Cathedral in Kuwait and on 16th March, 1961 the Cathedral was solemnly blessed and sanctified. Once you step into the Holy Family Cathedral in Kuwait through the tall, polished doors of either the main or side entrances, you are bound to be overwhelmed by a deep sense of peace and calm. If its your first visit then your attention will be drawn at once drawn forward along the short length of the Nave, towards the commanding presence of the broad elevated sanctuary with its high marble canopy which rests upon four columns and 'shelters' the main altar. The main altar has a unique and special place in the sanctuary. Maintaining the tradition, the altar is built up of natural stone. One major attraction of the church is a silver crucifix on a narrow pedestal placed near the altar. Running all along the semi-circular wall, just behind the altar are the seats for the clergy with the seat of the Bishop in the middle. The dark-colored, large painting placed on the wall at the back pays a perfect complement to the sanctuary. The fresco was created by the artist Carlo Rapp of Tunis and it represents the Holy Family during a stop in the desert. The other attractive features of the Holy Family Cathedral in Kuwait features the Baptism Font, The Holy Water Font, the Chapel, the Scaristy, the Upper room and the Choir Loft.
