Sadu House in Kuwait
Sadu House in Kuwait was established in the year 1979 with an exertion intention to preserve and restore the handmade industry of Kuwait. Few Eminent citizens of Kuwait came together to give a shape to the Al-Sadu Society so that the Beduouin crafts and culture can be preserved and they are not lost in the tide of time.to look after the Bedouin culture with vivacity and to save the Bedouin crafts from harm. In the year 1984, there were approximately 300 Bedouin women registered their names in this Sadu Society. These women had to create 70 products in a week. Later in 1991, the scheme was converted into a weaving cooperative society.
The Bedouins spent a life governed by the rhythm of the seasons. The crafts of knitting wool, weaving and tent making by the Bedouins are displayed in this museum. A conventional craft of major importance was Sadu weaving. Sadu weaving is basically the geometric designs woven with dyed, spun and colored wool. A number of chambers in the Sadu House at Kuwait Sadu House are magnificently decorated with the ceramic objects and handmade potteries. Another section has been renovated into AL-Baraha that is mainly a roofed playground for the children. The café is beautifully decorated with wooden benches and colorful woven pieces.
