Ranked as one of the best museums in Australia, National Automobile Museum
of Tasmania is a must see for all car lovers. The Museum has a wide collection
of cars and motorcycles right from 1900s to the 1990s. It is located near Brisbane
Street facing the City Park.
Housing the various automobiles of all ages under a single roof, National
Automobile Museum of Tasmania seeks to trace the evolution of motor vehicles.
The developments that marked the motoring technology, their history, design
etc, can all be found in National Automobile Museum of Tasmania.
The Museum boasts of a few exhibits which are extremely rare and not
found in any other collection. The Museum's collection is constantly made richer
with more additions. Cars of antiquity are restored by the able hands of the
Museum and displayed before the public in their full splendor. The themes of
National Automobile Museum's exhibitions change after every three months. These
themes come with names like Fabulous Ferrari, Daimler Days, Chevrolet- Heartbeat
of America.
National Automobile Museum of Tasmania has the some coveted brands like
Rolls-Royce, Bentleys, Jaguars and Mercedes-Benz sharing the display floor.
Most of the exhibits are privately owned vehicles and are on loan to the Museum.
Some of loans even come from overseas. National Automobile Museum also has a
small gift shop where visitors can by small sized replicas of the automobiles,
DVDs and other memorabilia.
National Automobile Museum of Tasmania strongly believes its efforts
will go a long way in preserving the automobiles of the past. The Museum believes
that these automobiles are inextricably linked to the history of Australia and
also provide a picture of the country's social development.
National Automobile Museum of Tasmania is open all seven days of the week.
It opens from 9 am to 5 pm. Admission fee is charged. For adults the admission
charge is $9.
