Macau Pedicabs
The Macau pedicabs are commonly known as tricycle. The pedicabs can carry two persons and has become a tourist attraction in Macau. The pedicab has one extra wheel at the back and can carry people on a sitting panel. The other name for them is trishaw.
The Macau pedicabs date back to 1930's when Macau was not much developed and was fishing village. During this time cars and buses were not available and pedicabs became important public means of transport. They could carry both people and goods around the city.
But during the 1980's due to changes in the economy and the growth of population the government took initiative to meet the citizen's needs by introducing the local bus service. The pedicabs of Macau are slow but provide a romantic journey through the streets. Don't miss out on the pedicab ride along the waterfront.
The Macau pedicabs are found in the Maritime Terminal and opposite the mina door of opposite the main Lisboa Hotel. The fares are negotiable and one can bargain depending the on distance of the destination. They have become another way to tour Macau.
