Macau Grand Prix is a Formula Three event that magnetizes more than 20,000 motor-racing
fans from across the globe to witness a high-octane three-day episode. Held at
Guia circuit, the race runs for 3.8 miles around quaint Macanese lanes and is
measured one of the most exigent courses on the international racing panorama.
Macau Grand Prix is organized in November in the streets of Macau. Perhaps,
the carnival is only of its kind in the world where both car and motorcycle
races are held in the same street circuit. More than 300 among racing drivers
and riders take part in the event every year. Originally conceived in 1954 as
a treasure hunt around the streets of the city, it became a professional Grand
Prix with the entry of Renault Sport cars as a marketing ploy in the 1960s.
The motorcycle race was introduced in 1967. in 1983, the event acquired the
recognition of the Formula 3 committee.
The Guia Circuit which is the host to the Macau Grand Prix uis one of the most
challenging race courses in the world. The blend of fast straights and sharp
corners make it one of the most demanding circuits in the world. Macau Grand
Prix is the learning ground of many talented drivers who went on to win the
world Formula One title in their careers. Among them a few are Ayrton Senna,
Michael Schumacher, David Coulthard and Takuma Sato.
