Handover Gifts Museum
The Handover Gifts Museum of Macau was inaugurated in December 2004 on the fifth anniversary of the renunciation of colonial rule. The foremost aim of it is to celebrate the significance of the handover of sovereignty in Macau's modern history. The museum also marks the end of last habitat of colonial vestige in a peaceful and amicable manner. It is the only of the museums in Macau to house only Chinese artifacts.
The Handover Gifts Museum of Macau comprises a three storey edifice. The lobby, entrance and the Museum's secretarial offices are in the first floor. The second floor houses two special exhibition galleries. An auditorium is built on the third floor. The second floor mostly showcases the handover gifts given by various mainland authorities like the State Council of China, her provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The unique presentation covers various themes on the local culture and history of Macau.
