Macau Museum of Art is the only among the museums in Macau to showcase varied
art forms of Macau. Exclusively dedicated to glittering art of Macau, the museum
is under the supervision of the Macau Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau.
Macau Museum of Art commits its largest space to visual arts. Located in the
Cultural Centre of Macau near the Outer Harbor, the Art Museum in Macau was
opened on 19 March 1999. It covers a full area of more than 10,000 square meters.
The expositive capacity of the museum is approximately 4,000 square meters.
The artistic deeds and cultural artifacts comprise Chinese Calligraphy, Paintings,
Seals, Ceramics, contemporary arts, Photography artworks, Copperwares, Western
paintings and many other significant collections.
Macau Museum of Art is a five floor structure with seven special exhibition
galleries. The fourth floor houses the Gallery of Chinese Calligraphy and Paintings
and Gallery of Chinese Ceramics. The Calligraphy, Paintings, and Shiwan Ceramics
are primary attractions. A gallery exhibiting different themes, and works collected
from other places are on show in the third floor. The gallery dedicated to historical
pictures is situated on the third floor housing Western paintings and European
prints of landscape of Macau.
The first and ground floor of the Macau Museum of Art comprise a gallery devoted
to the contemporary artists in Macau and overseas. An auditorium is positioned
on the first floor. With a capacity of 100 people, it is outfitted with visual
projections and slides. You can be a part of seminars regularly organized for
tourists. The Art Museum in Macau has a library containing many art-related
manuscripts with permission to use the audio facilities and internet services
without a charge. The ground floor of the museum has a workshop where different
art courses are regularly prearranged to educate the public.
