Kun Iam Ecumenical Center in Macau, China is a showcase of the rich cultural
heritage of Macau. Designed by the Portuguese architect, Cristina Rocha Leiria
and opened in 1999, the Kun Iam Ecumenical Center is now a prime among the popular
destinations in Macau.
Kun Iam Ecumenical Center in Macau, China is located on a man-made islet. It
is linked to the memorial dedicated to Sun Yat-sen in by 60 metres long causeway.
The Centre is divided in to two parts. The first one holds the 20 metres high
bronze Kun Iam Statue weighing 50 tonnes. The statue was founded at a foundry
in Nanjing, China and was shipped to Macau to be set-up. Another dome-shaped
lotus with sixteen petals stands on a 7 metres high pedestal. The statue has
diverse castings which permit the deviation of strong winds.
The second part of the Kun Iam Ecumenical Center in Macau, China comprises
two levels. The primary level is the Polyvalent Room housing the souvenir counter.
The second stage is a basement. It is home to a contemplation room and a small
library for tourists on their Macau sightseeing tour. The contemplation room
has the facility for 50 people and is committed to minute activities like conferences,
exhibitions and films. These activities make it a hotspot on your Macau sightseeing
