Colors Malaysia Festival

Malaysia - Langkawi - Kuala Lumpur - Penang
The month-long Colors Malaysia also known as the Citrawarna Malaysia is a celebration of the unique blend of the cultures of the country. It encompasses all the varieties of performing arts, visual arts and crafts involving all of the 13 sates of the country, as well as the capital city, Kuala Lumpur. All of them vie to present the best of entertainment, food, art etc. The indigenous cultures of Malaysia have been well-integrated with the Chinese, Indian, British and Portuguese influences.

Here, individual characteristics are preserved even as traditional arts and rituals adapt to the new environment. The fest is inaugurated by a parade through the city and also forms a part of the celebrations of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the king of Malaysia. The festival appeals to all and sundry irrespective of whether you prefer poetry or the martial arts (silat), the international percussion or the traditional medication. There are regular events that fulfill the official program all over the country.

You can pay a visit to the herb gardens in Perlis, or view the International Fowl Beauty Contest in Khota Bharu. The challengers come all the way from Thailand and Singapore to win the trophy. There is also a Gamelan Orchestra Festival hosted in Pahang.
