There are different segments that provide the museum its uniqueness. Art of the Mosque and Art of Architecture, Manuscripts Gallery for Koran, Islamic Arts of the Chinese World, Islamic Arts of the Malay World, Ceramics and Glassware Gallery, Textiles Gallery and Metalwork Gallery. This museum operates from Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 o’clock in the morning till 6 in the evening. The admission fee constitutes of only eight RM for adults. Visitors below the age of 18 years need to pay only half the amount.

The tourists make appointments in advance for “guided tour” of the museum. The museum campus also incorporates Museum shop, Restaurant and Museum Café, Children’s Library and Art Workshop.
