Legenda Park
The park located near Kuah jetty, is a beautiful historical place that houses
many gardens, local flowers, fruit trees and plants. The ever colorful garden
houses 17 monuments that tell an equal number of fo0lk tales. In addition to
these you can find four artificial lakes and a man- made beach which showcases
a picturesque landscape. The park also excels as it houses a rich collection
of traditional Malaysian handicraft and cultural objects.
Officially opened on 27th April1996, the park covers an area of 50 acres with approximately RM 37 million required for its construction. Interested to know about the legends and the myths associated with the land but have no time in hand? In that case the Legenda Park is the best place to visit, as it displays the famous legends and the myths of Langkawi. Some of the well known tales are that of Mat Raya and Mat Cincang, Pulau Hantu, the Mermaid's Golden Ball and so on.
Other parks
- CHOGM Park: The Park is located in front of the Langkawi Development
Association that is situated in the Kuah Town. The park was set to commemorate
the Commonwealth Head of Government Meeting that happened in 1989. The park
has a lovely terrain which is a part of the CHOGM logo. Admission to the park
is free and is open for all the 24 hours.
- Langkawi Crocodile Farm: Located some 32 kilometers from north of Kuah town the park also known as Taman Buaya Langkawi has a collection of 1,000 crocodiles that includes the rare ones. The 20 acres of the land has one of the largest numbers of crocodiles and alligators. A you walk along the land you would find a baby crocodile pond, a species pond, a breeding pond, a feeding pond and a jumping.
- Langkawi Bird's Paradise: Recognized as Asia's first bird park, the place covers an amazing collection of birds with over 150 species.
Amidst the coral reefs, the sandy beaches and the high mountains that makes
most of the landscape of Langkawi, the parks and the gardens bestows one with
a freshness that is very unique to the land.
