A number of home stay program developed by the Fisheries Development Authority Of Malaysia allows the guests to take shelter in one of the thirty households registered with them. This augments the income of these fisher folks and allows the international tourist to study the lifestyle of natives at close quarters. The men of these households work as fishermen but also run farms and maintain cattle and poultry during the spare time. Every homestead has a tiny but dainty orchard garden which bears vegetables and fruits for the family. The Tuba Island has a rich growth of medicinal herbs and shrubs.
