The continent of Asia is a melting pot of different cultures, wonders and attractions. The country of Malaysia is situated in the heart of Asia. The population in this country is very mixed comprising of Malays, Chinese and Indians. Malaysia is one of the leading tourist destinations and is very popular for its towering skyscrapers, natural wonders, beautiful beaches and some of the great diving spots in the world.

Kuching popularly known as the “Cat City” is located on the Eastern Island of Borneo. Kuching lies in the state of Sarawak and is a relatively small town. Kuching has a tropical climate and the weather is usually warm all year round. Temperatures range from 25-30 degrees Celsius. There may be some days during the months of Octover to February where there might be some rainfall, but it will rain only for an hour or so during the day which refreshes the air. It is definitely wonderful experience.

The people of Kuching are generally very helpful and very friendly. You can always approach them for help. There are a variety of races and religions mixed in Kuching. Some of the races known to exist in Kuching are the Malays, Dayak, Bidayuh, and the Iban among others. A few expatriates from German, Britain, or Australia.

The main languages spoken in Kuching are Malay which is the official Malay language, Iban a language close to Malay, Bidayuh (which has completely different languages for different "Kampungs", villages), Chinese and English.

There are plenty of entertainment options in Kuching. There are a number of pubs where you could walk in for a drink and get yourself entertained. You can order beer and liquors in every pub, but the prices are not as cheap as for food ranging from 5-7 Ringgits in most places for the local Tiger Beer (or Carlsberg and Heineken), and up to RM15 for the more classy ones.Some of the popular night clubs include Amigos, Monsoon and the Goal Café. The other worthwhile places include Soho, Grappa, and Tribes which are located in the city center. There are a number of places that offer live performances daily that feature talented bands with great lead singers.

Kuching has plenty of hotels everywhere. The price ranges from around 50 Ringgits. Hostels, Bed and Breakfasts and B&B Inn are cheaper than hotels. Most hotels are descent but you must not expect cleanliness from the cheap hotels. Some of the recommend places include Kuching Hilton on the expensive front, River View Hotel which is moderately expensive and City Inn Hotel, a relatively cheap hotel. There are good hotels but not near the city center such as Marlin Inn and Regalis Hotel.
