Batang Ai National Park stretches over an area of 240 square kilometers and boasts of verdant rainforests featuring some of the endangered and rare species of animals. There is also a 24 square kilometer artificial lake inside the park that was created by the Batang Ai hydroelectric reservoir. The park was opened to public in the year 1991 and since then its popularity amongst the local as well as foreign tourists has continuously increased.
