Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary, Malaysia
Malaysia - Langkawi - Kuala Lumpur - Penang
The responsibility of the team includes tracking down of these animals and sedating them. After the process is complete, these large animals are then later moved to more suitable locations such as the national parks. Ever since this project got underway about 30 years ago, about 500 wild elephants have been relocated.
The Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary will give you a very rare opportunity to learn about these displaced gentle giants. Visitors coming here can with the help on an elephant guide or a mahout get a chance to ride them through the jungle. The brave and adventurous visitor can take the elephants down to the river and help them give a bath. There really is no better opportunity than this to get in touch with Big Nature.
Two elephants at the Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary in Malaysia are currently
assisting human workers in their endeavours while two more are being trained
two take over the duties at a later stage. There are four other elephants at
the centre all of them being orphans, that have been adopted by the team.
