Malaysia is fast becoming one of the popular tourist destinations of south Asia.
It is one of the rare countries of the region that boasts of an enthralling treasury
of natural attractions. The country features everything to be designated as a
haven for nature lovers. From spectacular beaches to breathtaking mountain ranges,
you will all find it here. Malaysia is also home to numerous wildlife parks and
reserves. Rhino Conservation Center, Malaysia is one of the major wildlife
parks in the country. The park is unique in its theme and concept and is solely
dedicated to the captive breeding of the rare and endangered Sumatran rhinoceros.
This unique conservation center is situated in Sungai Dusun, Hulu Selangor and
it opened its doors to the public in the year 1964. The entire center is enormous;
it covers an area of 4,330 hectares of largely low-lying peat-swamp forest. The
Department of Wildlife and National Parks, Peninsular Malaysia is responsible
for the maintenance and management of the conservations center. The primary aim
of the center is captive breeding of the Sumatran rhino or Dicerorhinos sumatrensis,
which falls under the category of protected species in Malaysia. Sumatran Rhino
is the smallest and the oldest, in evolutionary terms, among the five living rhinoceroses
in the world. At the same time this species of rhinoceros is also one of the rarest
and most endangered species of large mammals in the entire world.
The Rhino Conservation Center is conveniently located and it is easily accessible.
After reaching the Kuala Lumpur's Puduraya Bus Station, you have to take a take
a bus to Tanjung Malim town and from there you have to catch a chartered taxi,
which will take you to the center.
