Trekking in Agadir
Morocco - Essaouira - Fez - Marrakech - Agadir
Agadir, situated at the southwest of Morocco, in the foothills of Atlas Mountains offers access to two the Anti-Atlas mountain range, the last range before the Sahara, and the High Atlas. One of the most famous treks in the High Atlas is climbing up the highest peak of North Africa- Jebel Toubkal which is 4167 m high. You can trek throughout the year, but the best time to trek is from April to October. Toubkal can be reached after a one hour drive from Marrakech. Normally, this trek starts from the scenic village of Imlil. Before starting your trek please ensure that you are accompanied by professional trekking guides. While trekking you may stay in gîtes (resting places) and small hotels along popular trails.
If you want to seek more adventure, then you may try to climb the quartz stone
face of Djebel Al-Kest (2 359m) and the twin pinnacles of Adrar Mqorn (2 344
m). Also try trekking the Jebel Siroua, a volcano with an elevation of 3304
m in the eastern part of the Anti-Atlas Mountain range and the Tichka plateau
in the Western part of the High Atlas.
