Suk, Agadir

Morocco - Essaouira - Fez - Marrakech - Agadir

The Suk of Agadir is a bustling marketplace and brims of the cheery spirit of Morocco. Souk, as it is popularly called, has numerous entrances (about 21) and the first advice a tourist may receive is to remember the number of his entrance. The gay shops and noisy trading activities send one into a tizz and the bright wares and inexpensive products are a delight to inspect and own. Be prepared to bargain a lot and for the haggling to be interspersed with banter and humor. Though the items on display do come without any authenticity certificate, it is quite possible to obtain excellent carpets, rugs, footwear and even jewellery at throwaway prices. The many streets of the Suk look similar and negotiating your way through them may be quite a challenge.

Traditional ceramics and pottery, caftans and hide jackets are among the popular products tourists to Agadir frequently pick up. Clothes are often inexpensive but do remember to inspect them carefully before you buy. Alabasters figurines and woolens are excellent buys at the Suk in Agadir. Before you leave do not forget to dig into the delightful local food available in local stalls. Most of it is prepared in open areas and the hygienic factors may be easily checked by you.
