The Square of Mohammed V in Casablanca was established in the year 1920. According to the records, the designer of this Square was the famous architect Joseph Marrast. The Square of Mohammed V is located near the central fountain of the city of Casablanca. The area was at a time French Colonial region and that is why several ancient buildings reflecting the French Colonial architecture surround the Mohammed V Square. This special architectural style is known as "Mooresque". Another very interesting fact is that all the buildings here bear the elements of Moroccan and French architecture. Some of these great architectural buildings are the Wilaya or the Prefecture, the Law Courts and many other buildings. All these buildings are colored in white and they are made out colorful stones.
