Sports in Casablanca

Casablanca on the western side of Morocco is one of the largest cities in the country. It is bordered by Atlantic Ocean and very often many visitors make Casablanca their first port of call in Morocco. Moroccan people, in general are fond of sports and some of the sports like football, horse riding, swimming and golf are extremely popular. Many clubs and other institutions including schools encourage sports in Casablanca.

Golf in Casablanca is exceedingly well-liked, perhaps the popularity came from the royal family some of whose members were golfers of very high caliber. Today the city can boast of quite a few golf courses of international quality, golfers from all over the world come to play in these courses. Football is another sport that gains popularity day by day. Morocco has played and continues to play with becoming competence in major international tournaments like the Football World Cup. Local football clubs in Casablanca nurture young football talents who then grow up to represent their country. Swimming and other outdoor sports like surfing, kayaking, canoeing, deep sea sailing, yachting and of course swimming is indulged in throughout the length and breath of the country. Another notable sport which gives much pleasure to the people, is horse riding.
