Essaouira Tourist Attractions
Morocco - Essaouira - Fez - Marrakech - Agadir
One of the loveliest coastal cities in Africa, Essaouria in Morocco is distinguished
for its windsurfing and fishing spots. The windy city has become internationally
renowned for its windsurfing contests and attracts windsurfers from all over the
world. The ancient red walls of Essaouira enclose its charm with its white washed
and blue shuttered houses, art galleries, wood workshops, fishermen and colorful
boats.
Tourist attractions in Essaouira are many. Essaouira is set in front of a group
of rocky islands and is surrounded by a stretch of empty sandy beaches and dunes.
Everything in the small center is within walking distance and the beaches are
very clean. Essaouira is also home to the castle from Jimi Hendrix's song Castles
in the Sand - and it is melting into the sea, on a beach, on the outskirts of
town. The birdlife habitat in Oualidia village in Essaouira is one of the richest
birdlife habitats in Morocco.
