Morocco - Essaouira - Fez - Marrakech - Agadir
Smiling and always happy, the people of Essaouira add a greater degree of pleasure to anyone planning a trip to Essaouira. Essaouira population is dominated by the Berbers who have made much of Africa their home since the earliest recorded facts. Today almost three fourths of the entirety of the population of Essaouira are of Berber descent and exert a remarkable influence on the economy and culture of not just Essaouira but that of the entirety of Morocco. The second most important ethnic group in the population of Essaouira is the Arabs, whose influence can be seen among other things in the language most widely used in Essaouira.

Arabic is seen to be the official language of not just Essaouira, but also that of Morocco. Today, with the advent of modernism in the thoughts and mentalities of most of the Essaouira population, a number of cases of intermarriage between the two major ethnic groups have taken place. These cases have influenced the culture of Essaouira and added a number of other aspects to it. Another important ethnic group among the population of Essaouira is the numerous families of black Africans who have made the province of Essaouira their home.

The main religion of the city of Essaouira is Islam which is also the established state religion of Morocco. The monarch of Morocco is considered to be the spiritual head of the state.
