Bars and Pubs in Essaouira

There are many Bars and Pubs in Essaouira, but obviously not as many as
in European cities. Some of these bars are the right places to look for a healthy
dose of food and drinks, music and entertainment. There are some rare bars and
pubs in Essaouira that serve alcohol, but they are hidden in the darkest streets
of the city. If you wish to drink Moroccan beer, approach a local to guide you
to a beer bar. Only some of the hotels in Essaouira have licensed bars because
licenses are difficult to obtain here. A lot of bars and pubs in Essaouira are
ill-reputed because of the extremely chaotic atmospheres, with most of the customers
going out of control and refusing to leave even after the regular hours. If you
want to enjoy a drink in quiet solitude, head for the bars of reputed hotels and
restaurants. This might cost you more, but at least you'll steer clear of hazards!
Some of the famous Bars and Pubs in Essaouira hotels and restaurants include the terrace bar at Taros (2 Rue de la Sqala) which is superb for enjoying drinks amidst some live local music. It also offers a panoramic view of the Place Moulay el Hassan and the harbor. The bar at Ocean Vagabond Beach Hotel is very cozy and built in African colonial style. The Sofitel Thalassa Mogador Hotel, facing the sandy beach of Essaouira, also boasts of a decent bar.
There are also some drink stores in Essaouira which sell alcoholic and non-alcoholic
drinks. However, these stores remain closed for 3 weeks before and a week after
the Ramadan.
