Merenid Tombs, Fez
Morocco - Essaouira - Fez - Marrakech - Agadir
The Merenid Tombs are located north of the city of Fez very close to the Bab el
Guissa. Fez is the spiritual and cultural heart of the land of Morocco. Medina
is the oldest part of the city that has been inhabited right from the 10th century
and is still a major attraction for all those who come to visit Morocco. What
is most fascinating is the old world charm. The city is bustling with a lot of
activity with throngs of people going on their way to the baths, olive dealers
and hard working tradesmen. There are a number of places to see in Morocco and
the Merenid Tombs is a very important part of these.
Location of the Merenid Tombs
The Merenid tombs are located right at the edge of the valley. This is indeed
a special place as you get an absolutely fascinating view of the entire city.
The Merenid tombs are on a hill top and so the view is also spectacular. From
here you can get to see the skyline of Fez. This is dotted with the profusion
of the green roofs of the holy places, the palaces and also the Karaouine Mosque.
