Marrakech Language

The dry and arid paradise of Morocco is visited by thousands throughout the year for its brilliant locales and efficient services provided by the locals and the administration. The city presents a striking combination of dry climate along with beautifully crafted and maintained gardens. Another beautiful façade of the city is its language, which is as sweet as the people.

Arabic has been given the status of the official language in Morocco as it is the most widely spoken language of the country. Arabic is also the most widely spoken language of Marrakech as well. Most of the Marrakechinas are educated and most of them speak French. As a matter of fact French is the main language of the mass media in Marrakech.

People in Marrakech are educated in Classical Arabic. Most of the information of the administration is published in Arabic only. Though the daily spoken language in the city is a dialect called Ttamazight, which originated from the ancient Moroccan language called Berber.
