El Kelaa des M'Gouna Marrakech

Dades Valley is popularly called the Valley of the Roses, because an oasis is situated in this Valley. El Kelaa des M'Gouna, Marrakech is located in this area and is known as the rose capital of Morocco. In this town a huge distilling plant producing the litres of scented rose water, which is very much popular in the nation's cooking and perfumery.

In the entire year, El Kelaa des M'Gouna, Marrakech smells heavenly but the best time to visit in this town is in late May, when the rose farmers from the surrounding hills gather to rejoice the harvest of the year. Ten tons of rose petals required to produce some litres of rose oil, so justifiably this harvest is a labour of love, and the culminating festivals are livelier because of this.

A souk (market) of roses springs up next to the main street of El Kelaa des M'Gouna, Marrakech with plenty of music and dancing to cheer up the events.
