Description of the Marrakech Ramparts, Marrakech -The ramparts that wholly encircle the old city of Marrakesh are almost a thousand years old and extend for 12 miles in an unbroken circle. The ramparts of Marrakech have been there since the 13th century and are examples of beautiful fortress walls in Morocco. Two metres thick and 12 miles long, they are splendid gateways and are a great place for leisure early morning walk. They look even more beautiful in the last light of the day when they take on a mysterious orange-colored hue. Covering a length of almost 10 kms, the city ramparts are among the primary attractions of Marrakech.
There are 10 gates, of which many have served as a model for other Moroccan cities. There are also many horse carriages that are ready to take one on a joy ride from one gate to another.
