The Mausoleum of Mohammad is located in Rabat, Morocco. Situated on the Yacoub al-Mansour, it stands opposite to the Hassan Tower. This architecture is regarded as a masterpiece from the present Moroccan royal family commonly called the Alaouite dynasty. Alaouite got its name from Ali of Moulay Ali Cherif, the founder of the dynasty who became the Sultan in 1631. Today this masterpiece is one of the major Morocco tourist attractions.
The construction of the Mausoleum of Mohammad, Morocco was commissioned by King Hassan II (father of the current king Mohammed VI) for his father. It was started after the death of Sultan Mohammad in 1961 and completed in 1971. During the same time he also commissioned the construction of the Hassan Tower. The white silhouette with the green tiled roof is an architectural splendor. The structure has ornately carved white marble walls, beautiful sliding doors and beautiful ceiling.
