The Ferry Building in Auckland City is an important part of the city's historical past. This port building in the city of Auckland was built with the aim to register the importance of water transport in the early years of 20th century Auckland. The building was set up by the Auckland Harbor Board in 1909-1912 and stood testimony of the voluminous ferry network operating to and from the city. The building was let out on lease only to generate a healthy income for the Board. All these undertakings were directed to one single cause- to make the port stand out in the entire Southern Hemisphere.
